So it seems there is a large gap in my horse-health knowledge where stomach ulcers are concerned. I've just never encountered them! But started reading up about them, and have realized that a few horses I've worked with may have had ulcers or been at risk of them, including my own!

One of my boss' polo ponies, Martini, suffered a very minor tear to her superficial digital flexor tendon early last fall/end of the summer. Because the tear was so minor, after a re-check the vet cleared her for light work starting again at the end of the winter/early spring. I have an 11 year old OTTB gelding that I've had for about a year.  For the first 6 months me didn't have a single lameness issue and he had come through the pre-purchase pretty clean (x-rays and all).  However in the last six months he's had two bouts (both left hind leg) of what appear to be lymphangitis, which basically means his entire leg ( Read more... )

My friend's adorable filly has started developing nosebleeds as the weather gets colder. Nothing serious but a very big annoyance as Missy DOES NOT like having her face washed and her owner is not a big fan of the "abused horse" look.
